Electric car 10480

Current state :

Riding

Electric tram, with two bogies, known as « N-Type », built in 1954 in the SNCV workshops in Brussels. It was built economically to modernise the rolling stock fleet.

« Type N » trams have only 2 motors, fixed on the frame and transmitting their force to their two motorised extreme axles through cardan shafts.

The 10480, as well as all « N-Type » trams, were built to provide services during the off-peak hours. Services during peak hours were handled by motor cars capable to tow trailers.

The 10480 ran on the Brussels SNCV network until its suppression in 1978.
